Their music definitely "holds up" and has stood the test of time ... and always will. The catalogue of timeless classics they produced in about six years is amazing.
And a lot of their solo work is just as good. John Lennon was as good as ever when he was murdered.
I'll be singing "The Long and Winding Road" in my head all day!
Confession time — I’ve never really caught the Beatles bug. I know, I know… musical blasphemy! A few tunes have grown on me over the years, but for whatever reason, they’ve just never been my jam. I fully respect the love though! 🥸
Excellent album producers must be like excellent editors. They can take raw, rough, unspectacular bits of music and re-work it into a ... classic.
I guess George Martin, "the fifth Beatle," didn't work on this album ... but they found the perfect replacement in Phil Spectre, a man who ended up being crazy, but could excel at the job that made him famous.
I think some of Tom Petty's best music was on albums that were produced by the founder of ELO, Jeff Lyne … who I think was the man who made "The Travelling Wilbury's" albums so good. He was the artist in that group who wasn't a legend, but he was probably the MVP.
If you don't like the Beatle's music, you either 1) haven't really listened to it or 2) don't really like music.
I think that sums it up! And the way their music matures along the way is fascinating.
