Per my Substack metrics, approximately 250 Troy Citizen subscribers open my cross-posts. What if all of of these readers took out a free subscription to Jeffrey Massey’s wonderful Substack? (This would almost double Jeffrey's total subscriber numbers, which deserve to be higher IMO.) Jeffrey might dance a Little Two Step and my readers would get a fun, fascinating “change of pace” type of Substack. Just about every dispatch Jeffrey files makes me say, “That was interesting” … and they aren’t usually “save the world,” heavy topics. They’re little vignettes about history and pop culture and about people like Gilda Radner. I didn’t know Gilda’s family backstory, but now I do! I'll be back on a posting tear next week. I'm off on a special assignment that might give me some new content. -

Gilda Radner, the American Emmy-winning comedian who took Saturday Night Live! by storm in the 1970’s was born on this date in Detroit, Michigan. Gilda’s conservative, Jewish parents were very loving and her father Herman, with whom she was very close, operated Detroit's Seville Hotel, one of the city’s finest.
